The AKKINENI NAGESWARA RAO D.Ed COLLEGE is the sister institution of the Akkineni Nageswara Rao College, Gudivada.Akkineni Nageswara Rao College is the result of the munificence and zeal for higher education of the people of Gudivada Taluka and of the neighboring talukas in Krishna District. The lack of a seat of higher learning was actually felt, and to meet this need a strong committee of local leaders was formed early in 1950, and an appeal for funds was made over the names of the following: Sri Parvataneni Venkataratnam (President). Sri Kaza Venkataramaiah (Secretary), Sri Uppalapati Veerabhadra Rao (Treasurer), Sri Vemulapalli Ramabrahmam (Joint Secretary) and Sarvasri Vadde Sobhanadri, Lingam Venkata Krishnaiah and Upadrasta Papanna Sastry as members. The College was formally inaugurated with the name "The Gudivada College" by Prof. V.S. Krishna, B.A., (Oxon), Ph.D. (Vienna), the then Vice- Chancellor of the Andhra University, on July 6th, 1950 at a public meeting over which the Hon'ble Sri B. Gopala Reddi, Finance Minister, Government of Madras, Presided.

In the year 2007-08, establishment of Private Primary Teacher Training Colleges in Andhra Pradesh under Private Management is a landmark in the history of Primary Teacher Education. As there are only 23 Govt. DIETs in Andhra Pradesh only 2300 trainees are admitted out of 1.5 lakhs of candidates appearing for DIET-CET every year. As per the High Court orders of A.P., only D.Ed. Candidates are eligible for the recruitment as S.G. Teachers in the elementary schools in A.P. Therefore, the demand for seeking training in D.Ed. College is increasing and the Government has taken appreciable steps permitting the private managements to establish more and more D.Ed. Colleges in A.P. for imparting "Quality Primary Teacher Education". Therefore "Quality-Teacher Education" is the prime responsibility of the newly established D.Ed. Colleges by providing an effective training in "Activity-based" & "Child-Centered" Education. The lack of desirable Interests, Attitudes, Abilities, Values and Habits among the present day educators is not due to the defective Educational Planning, Administration, Implementation, Supervision & Teaching, but due to defective pedagogy i.e., the methods that are being taught in the training are not being implemented by the teachers now in schools. Therefore the Primary Teacher Training Institutes have to play a vital role in imparting Quality-Teacher Education most effectively so that their trainees would implement all the new methods, approaches & strategies for achieving desirable interests, attitudes, abilities, values and habits and buildup the desirable character to be Indian and do as an Indian among the future citizens & the present pupils in Indian schools and we would be the instruments for the cause of education as Primary Teacher Educators.
